In 1980, Dr. Daniel Gaitan attained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He went on to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi in 1986, followed by his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine in 1989. Dr. Gaitan's passion for Endocrinology and Diabetes led him to Vanderbilt University, where he completed his Fellowship in 1993. Dr. Gaitan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
Additionally, Dr. Gaitan is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Gaitan is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and the American College of Physicians. He holds the academic position of Clinical Associate Professor at Washington University School of Medicine. Since 2001, he has been selected for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America and St. Louis Top Docs list. Presently, he is on staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. Dr. Gaitan has been a resident of St. Louis, Missouri for 32 years. He has steadfastly dedicated his efforts toward incorporating his extensive expertise in Endocrinology and Diabetes with primary care. Dr. Gaitan is an advocate for preventive healthcare and applies the latest advancements in technology and medicine throughout his practice. Dr. Gaitan has a strong passion for medicine, and his aphorism is “Dedicating my skills and knowledge to your quest for optimum health and happiness.”
Melissa is the Executive Director and Practice Administrator for Daniel Gaitan Personalized Healthcare. As a Medical Assistant in 1997, she quickly became Dr. Gaitan's righthand. Realizing that her leadership roles and career advancements were limited, Melissa became a Registered Nurse in 2007, graduating with President's Honors. She then attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 2019, she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree, graduating With Distinction as a Nurse Educator. Melissa completed her studies as a Family Nurse Practitioner in June 2021 and is Board Certified through the ANCC and also certified through the AANP. Areas of practice have been in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, NICU, Correctional Medicine, and Case Management.
Melissa is the wife of Dr. Gaitan and the mother to both of their incredible children.
As a personalized care patient of Dr. Gaitan, you will receive individualized attention from an attentive and experienced physician who is dedicated to your health and well-being. Dr. Gaitan conducts a comprehensive yearly exam, which includes an in-depth discussion of health issues and concerns, as well as a meticulous physical examination. Upon receipt of laboratory data and testing results, members will appreciate receiving a personal health portfolio created by Dr. Gaitan. This portfolio is inclusive of a recap of your office visit, an explanation of what tests were performed, what your lab values mean, medical findings, and a descriptive plan of care. Of course, if there is anything urgent or of concern, Dr. Gaitan will contact you personally beforehand. Personalized Care Members are assured same day or next business day appointments as needed. Dr. Gaitan is firmly established and respected within the medical community. As a result, he is able to secure timely appointments for members with the best specialists in St. Louis and surrounding areas.
Daniel Gaitan Personalized Healthcare strives to accommodate patients promptly and proficiently. When an appointment is needed, you’ll be able to see Dr. Gaitan on the same or following business day, whereas in traditional primary care practices, you may have to wait 2-3 weeks to see a provider. Dr. Gaitan manages all health concerns expeditiously, and this approach can reduce the risk of a more significant issue to arise. Dr. Gaitan limits the number of members in his personalized care practice. In doing so, he has the time and availability to address the healthcare needs of his clients. This is an important aspect of the patient-doctor interaction, especially when diagnosing, treating, or identifying factors that may result in a future healthcare ailment. Dr. Gaitan is available to his concierge patients 24 hours a day by either email, patient portal, or cell phone. Please note Dr. Gaitan's cell phone is not text message enabled.
Dr. Gaitan prefers to meet with potential members first to discuss our program in person. This also allows you to get acquainted with one another and ask any questions that you may have.
